We take the protection of guests’ data very seriously and we are fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
What information we collect about you
When you make a booking with us we collect the names of all the guests who will be staying, the home address, email address and telephone number of the person making the booking.
How we use the information we hold on you
We will use your email address to send you confirmation of the booking and an email with more details on how to find us and other information you may find useful for your stay. We may use your information to email you a copy of your invoice. After your stay you may receive an automatic email from our booking system inviting you to fill in a feedback form and offering you ways to stay in touch with us by social media or email if you choose to do so. We will not use your telephone number to contact you unless it is for an emergency and/or we have been unable to contact you by email. We may text/call to request an estimated time of arrival.
How is your data stored
All of the personal and debit/credit card data you supply us, as part of the booking process, is stored securely on third party systems, (Booking.com,Expedia.com,Freetobook.com ). We will not share your information with any other third party unless there is a legal reason to do so.
Check In and Departure Times
Check in is usually between 14.00 & 19:30 or 16.00 & 19.30 for self-catering and we ask that guests vacate their rooms by 10:30am on the day of departure. If you will be arriving after 19:30pm please let us know as we may have commitments in the evenings and may need to make separate arrangements to welcome, you.
Booking and Payment
By booking a room(s) at The Harrington Guesthouse, you are agreeing that you and all members of your party agree to and are bound by the Terms & Conditions detailed below. Your reservation is made with The Harrington Guesthouse and represents a legally binding contract between you and The Harrington Guesthouse.
We will require a valid credit / debit card when booking to confirm your reservation, you are able to pay your balance through free to book (our booking software) or upon arrival. We reserve the right to charge your card as detailed below in the event of a no-show or should the booking be cancelled as per our Cancellation Policy. By entering into this contract, you are authorising us to make any charges as per our conditions below and without any additional consent being required. We strongly advise that you have travel insurance to cover you if you need to cancel.
We are happy to accept most credit or debit cards for the payment of the deposit and balance. Where possible we prefer payment by debit card. We do not take Diners or American Express Cards.
Cancellation Policy
As we are a small family run B&B, a minimum of 7 days’ notice is required for cancellation. If cancelled later, one night only will be charged. However, if cancelled on the day of arrival or for a no-show, the total amount of the reservation will be charged. No allowances can be made to cover accommodation vacated before the end of the reservation. We strongly advise taking out holiday insurance.
Circumstances Beyond Our Control (Force Majeure)
We cannot accept responsibility for unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. These include (but are not limited to) adverse weather conditions, fire, riot, war, terrorist activity (or threat of such activity), industrial dispute, natural disaster, or injuries and death of an individual(s) through accidental circumstances unconnected with The Harrington Guesthouse. Fortunately these things are all quite rare down here in Cornwall.
Damage
We reserve the right to charge for any damage or loss caused by yourself or a member of your party for the replacement, cleaning or repair of any item(s) belonging to The Harrington Guesthouse or the fabric of the house itself including public areas, damaged either wilfully or because reasonable precautions have not been taken. In the event that cosmetic products or food/drink stains cannot be removed after treatment an appropriate charge may be made. In these events, payment for any such damage or loss can be charged to your credit/debit card without prior consent being required for the costs incurred. By making a booking you are accepting responsibility for any damage or loss caused by yourself or a member of your party. Full payment for any such damage or loss must be paid to the provider upon demand. If you fail to do so, you will be responsible for meeting any claims subsequently made (together with our own and the other party’s full legal costs) as a result of your actions.
Insurance
We do advise holiday insurance in case of the unexpected because it happens more often than you might realise. It is your responsibility to ensure that any insurance cover you have provides adequate cover for your needs and for the duration of your stay.
Lost Keys
On arrival, you will be given a room key and front door key. It is your responsibility to ensure safety of your keys and key ring at all times and to return them at the end of your stay on check out. Loss of keys will be subject to a minimum lost key charge of £15.
Parking
Where on-site or garage parking is provided guests accept that they park their vehicles at their own risk.
Non-Smoking Policy
The Harrington Guesthouse is by law strictly NON-SMOKING and we do not allow smoking. Electronic Cigarettes or Vapourisers (Vapes) For our guests’ comfort we do not allow the use of electronic cigarettes or vapourisers (vapes). A minimum penalty of £100 may be charged for smoking in any part of The Harrington Guesthouse.
